Training and Safety Division

The Training & Safety Division is responsible for coordinating fire and emergency medical services (EMS) training for all St. Lucie County Fire District personnel. The Division also oversees firefighter health and safety programs, exposure risk management, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development programs to ensure personnel are prepared to provide the highest level of service to our community.

The Division develops, coordinates, and delivers training programs that support all aspects of Fire District operations, including firefighting, emergency medical services, special operations, leadership development, emergency vehicle operations, incident command, and regulatory compliance. Training staff also oversee firefighter candidate orientation, field training programs, officer development, paramedic apprenticeship initiatives, continuing education, and certification maintenance.

In addition to training responsibilities, the Division manages firefighter health and safety initiatives, infection prevention programs, immunizations, exposure risk management, quality assurance and quality improvement activities, and the Medical Review Board. The Division also supports research and development efforts, instructional content creation, and the evaluation of emerging technologies and best practices.

Through continuous training, professional development, and safety oversight, the Training & Safety Division helps ensure Fire District personnel remain prepared to deliver immediate, skillful, and professional emergency services to the residents and visitors of St. Lucie County.
