Public Information and Public Relations

Keeping our community informed and connected is an important part of serving St. Lucie County. The Public Information Division serves as the connection between the St. Lucie County Fire District, the news media, and the community we proudly serve.

The Public Relations Specialist/ Public Information Officer (PIO) manages the District's public information, media relations, multimedia and digital communications, social media, community engagement, and public relations functions. Through these efforts, the District works to provide timely and accurate information, support communications during emergency incidents, share District news and initiatives, and keep the community informed about the people, programs, and services of St. Lucie County Fire District.   

The Public Information Officer serves as the District's primary point of contact for the news media and coordinates media inquiries, interviews, and the release of official information. The Public Information Officer works with District leadership and subject matter experts to provide accurate, timely information and coordinate the appropriate response to media inquires.

Media Information

The Public Relations Specialist serves as the District's Public Information Officer (PIO) and primary point of contact for news media inquiries, official statements and interview requests.

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The PIO email account is monitored during normal business hours but is not continuously monitored. Media inquires are addressed as promptly as operational priorities and availability allow. 

Time-Sensitive Media Inquiries
Members of the news media seeking information regarding an active or developing incident should contact the PIO directly rather than relaying solely on email.

Outside normal business hours, priority is given to significant incidents and time-sensitive District matters requiring public information support. Routine inquiries will be addressed during normal business operations as availability allows. 

Community Engagement & Public Relations Requests

SLCFD participates in community events, partnerships and engagement opportunities throughout St. Lucie County.

Requests for District participation in community events, speaking engagements, station visits, partnerships, and other community engagement opportunities should be submitted through the Public Relations Request Form for review and coordination.

Submission of request does not guarantee District participation. Requests are reviewed based on operational availability, scheduling and the nature of the request.
