Community Risk Reduction
The Community Risk Reduction Division is dedicated to protecting lives and property through fire prevention, public education, code enforcement, fire investigations, development review, and recruitment initiatives. By identifying and reducing community risks before emergencies occur, the Division plays a critical role in enhancing public safety throughout St. Lucie County.
The Division oversees fire and life safety inspections, fire investigations, site and building plan reviews, public education programs, code compliance activities, and recruitment efforts. Fire Safety Inspectors conduct inspections of commercial and multi-family occupancies to help ensure compliance with applicable fire and life safety codes, while Fire Investigators determine the origin and cause of fires and work closely with local, state, and federal agencies when necessary.
In addition to enforcement and investigation activities, the Division provides fire and life safety education to residents, businesses, schools, and community organizations while promoting career opportunities within the fire service. Through proactive prevention efforts, development review, public outreach, and recruitment initiatives, the Community Risk Reduction Division helps create a safer community while supporting the continued growth and success of the St. Lucie County Fire District.
