The Logistics Department is responsible for the complete logistical support of the Fire District. They research, purchase, warehouse, distribute, inventory and dispose of everything necessary to run a countywide fire-rescue operation.
The Department consists of three personnel reporting directly to the Assistant Fire Chief. They are responsible for supplies for all the fire stations and the Administration Complex and for outfitting over 400 personnel with uniforms and emergency equipment.
The Logistics Department warehouses medical, office and janitorial supplies, uniforms and bunker gear. Deliveries are made to all of the 15 stations on a weekly basis with a Logistical Supply Unit (LSU). This vehicle carries enough supplies to replenish 15 rescue units at one time and can be used in a mass causality incident.
They maintain a fixed asset inventory of over 1170 items, including their location, required by law of all items purchased over $1000. This is done once a year. Items no longer serviceable are written off with Fire Board approval and disposed of according to state statutes.
The Logistics Department is located at our Administration Complex - 5160 NW Milner Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL, 34983 - next to the health department off Midway Road. The Department shares the building with Fleet Maintenance and is behind the main Administration Office. The office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The telephone number is 772-621-3325 and their fax number is 772-621-3607. |
