Chief Ron Parrish was named Fire Chief in July 2007, having served as Assistant Fire Chief since 2004. He has been with the Fire District since 1985, serving in every aspect of fire service. He served 12 years on the frontlines before going into operations and administration. He recently graduated from the Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsberg, Maryland. The four-year program focuses on leadership, research and change as well as individual self-assessment and development plans.
During his short time as Fire Chief he reorganized the Fire District to streamline the chain of command. He also became very proactive in reaching out to the frontline firefighters. The St. Lucie County Fire District has 438 employees, which includes 383 professional firefighters. In 2007 the Fire District responded to 36,116 emergency calls.
In addition to reaching out to the Fire District employees, Fire Chief Parrish is also proactive in meeting with community and civic groups. |
