The Citizens Fire Academy is a FREE 6 week program designed to give an overview of the St. Lucie County Fire District, Emergency operartions, Public Safety Complex, and other emergency services.
What is CFA?
Provides an overview of the St. Lucie County Fire District, EOC, Public Safety Complex and other emergency services
Emphasizes the role citizens play in pre-vention efforts
Taught by firefighters and administrators
Who can attend:
Open to those 18 years or older who live or work in St. Lucie County
When/where are classes held?
Runs for six weeks
Classes start at 5:30 p.m.
Various locations including fire stations

You’ll have the opportunity to experience and witness exciting things like:
Hands-on fire extinguisher training
Holding a fire hose while water is flowing
Air Rescue demonstration
Tactical Response Team demonstration
Hazmat Team demonstration

Anyone who is not accepted into the current
class will be put on a waiting list for a future
classes.
Classes
Administration: Tour the St. Lucie County Fire District Administration, and be informed about what each departments accomplishes on a daily basis.
Emergency Operation Center (EOC): Tour the new EOC and become familiar with the agencies that are activated during emergency situations.
Public Safety Complex: Walk through and familiarization of the safety complex where Police, EMS, and Firefighters train to protect your life and property.
Tactical Rescue Team (TRT): Demonstration of equipment and the training that a TRT team has to go through to be prepared for an emer-gency.
Hazmat Team: Demonstration of equipment and learn about the training that a Hazardous Material team goes through to be prepared for an emergency.
Fire Prevention: Learn about fire prevention. Become familiar with fire extinguisher usage. Learn how to teach your child on fire safety.
Honor Guard: Demonstration of training that a Honor Guard team goes through for celebra-tions and funerals.
Air Rescue Team: Demonstration of equip-ment Air Medical unit has to be prepared for an emergency.
Explorers: Demonstration of training that Fire Explorers go through for preparation to be fire-fighters.
