Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Bushman started his career with the St. Lucie County Fire District in 1979. Before being named Assistant Fire Chief, he served as an Administrative and Operations Deputy Chief since 2000. He had been named a Battalion Chief in 1997. Chief Bushman was named Firefighter of the Year in 1992 and again in 1999. He has been a Fire Instructor at Indian River State College since 1987. Chief Bushman recently completed his Masters Degree in Public Administration at Nova Southern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

As Assistant Fire Chief of Administration, Chief Bushman oversees Administration. Administration includes: IT (Information Technology), Logistics, Human Resources, and Fleet Maintenance.
