AIR RESCUE
Air Rescue

Air rescue patchHigh quality air medical transport is accomplished through a partnership between the St. Lucie County Fire District and Air Methods Corporation. Under this partnership, known as St. Lucie County Air Rescue, expeditious air transport of emergent patients is provided by a highly skilled crew of three: a critical care nurse and pilot provided through Air Methods Corporation and a Flight-Paramedic provided through the St. Lucie County Fire District. The flight team provides care under the Emergency Medical Guidelines and direction promulgated by the Fire District’s Medical Director.
Air Rescue, an Augusta A119 “Koala”, is considered one of the fastest air medical helicopters in the state, and capable of transporting critically ill and injured patients at speeds in excess of 160 miles per hour. In 2011, Air Rescue performed 298 emergency transport flights. Air Rescue is based out of the St. Lucie County International Airport.
